An 18-year-old Ty Cobb made his Major League debut on August 30, 1905. Cobb became known as "The Georgia Peach" (and probably earned several other less complimentary and more vulgar nicknames). Jackie Robinson homered, tripled, doubled, and singled - in that order, on August 29, 1948.
